Advantages

Raises the front of your car and reduces damage from stone chips, etc.
For some vehicles, may prevent the odometer from logging miles while being towed (this is a good thing).

Disadvantages

Initial cost. $1000 to $2000+
Must have a license plate, annual renewal, etc.
Another set of wheels and brakes to maintain.
Heavy, awkward to maneuver by hand.
Dirty job to connect car front axle/wheels to the dolly.
Cannot back up the RV-Vehicle combination.
